A Sassy Christmas

We took Sassy home for the hollandaise, where she endured much heavy petting from our energetic niece and nephew. As you can see, Sassy does not much care for little people, and therefore spent most of our visit shooting us the stink eye and quietly intimating that she'd like to BIZOUNCE. A dog after our own, cranky heart.

Tofurky Day Food Coma Wrap-Up

The Boy did the lion's share of yesterday's cooking, and for that, we are eternally grateful. In addition to TWO Tofurkys with all the fixins, we feasted on orange juiced and candied yams, a baby spinach salad with fresh cracked pepper, sea salt, shaved Pecorino and lemon oil dressing, cranberry sauce, and an avocado, grapefruit and chevre salad.

We ended our feast with this homemade vegan chocolate mousse pie, which is made of tofu. UNBELIEVABLE, Right?!

As the only meat-eater in the house, Sassy Mae enjoyed a dinner that we are reasonably certain contained some turkey (or at least parts thereof). Onward now to Christmas.

Sassy's Maiden Beach Jaunt

Sassy greeted the beach (and her fellow canine party-goers) with all the verve of a convalescing donkey until the beef sticks came out. And we can't be sure of this, but based on that first photo, it appears she may have witnessed something of a primal scene at the start of the festivities.

We're already prepared to tell her that her friends were playing 'leapfrog' if she asks.

A Video Of My Dog Being Funnier Than Chelsea Handler

Sassy has recently mastered what can only be described as a 'courtesy pee,' or, a negligible release of urine designed to legitimize an otherwise inessential trip outside to sniff around and look at shadows. This is a short video of the sonic prod she's crafted in association with her pee racket.

Sassy's Spa Day

boston terrier

Sassy Mae (aka "Professor Frito," aka "Little Mamma," aka "Ms. Mae") got a much-needed bath yesterday. She also enjoyed a mani and pedi from our in-house cosmetologist, for which she went almost entirely limp. Funny lady.

A Sassy Moment

This post comes at the behest of Amanda of Rust Belt Threads, who yesterday tweeted, "more pics of your dog plz!". We, of course, are happy to oblige, and we are happy to report that since her last appearance on das blog, Ms. Mae has lost all of the unhealthy weight she managed to accumulate during the first two bacon and cheese-filled years of her life in mother Huzzah's care. Now she is "sassy" in a different way. A slender way.

The fawn-colored gentleman on the right is Sassy Mae's best friend and housemate, Ollie. Ollie is a classic dog who enjoys drinking out of the toilet, noshing on cat poop of mysterious origin and rolling around in dirt--all things which Ms. Mae, as a purebred, finds curious and somewhat unbecoming of her puppy friend. As we've never lived with a classic dog, we also find this behavior odd...but endearing, like an old sitcom!

(We sincerely regret that this video is as dull as it is.)

Study of A Lady Sunbathing

Please meet Sassy Mae! Ms. Mae hails from the San Joaquin Valley and enjoys snorting, sleeping and sunbathing. She is two years young and immensely thankful that she doesn't live in a world where dogs ride in large potato sacks precariously attached to the sides of moving vehicles.
